Alpacas are raised in the foothills of the Andes, near Lake Titicaca in Peru and Bolivia. Their fleece is sheared and processed into the finest quality fiber for weaving. Alpaca fiber is warmer than sheep wool, finer than sheep wool so it is not prickly, and hypoallergenic because it does not contain lanolin. Slight variations enhance authenticity.
